Wu Ying: Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Central Conservatory of Music, President of Piano Association of Chinese Musicians Association and Steinway Artist.
Born in Shanghai, Wu Ying started playing piano with his mother when he was 5. He graduated from the Piano Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. In 1982, he obtained his master’s degree and then studied in Austria with a world famous piano master-Professor Badura skoda. He began to teach at the Central Conservatory of Music after coming back to China. In 1991, he was awarded as “The Graduate that has made outstanding contributions” by the State Council and State Education Commission. In 1992, he won the “Badura-skoda Prize” granted by Swiss Goethe Foundation. He served as piano teacher at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music from 1994 to 2004, and was the professor of the Piano Department of the Conservatory. In 1999, he was awarded the title of “Excellent Expert of the Ministry of Culture”.
He once served as the dean of the Piano Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, the dean of the Piano Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and the dean of the Piano Department of the Xi ‘an Conservatory of Music.
He gave
live concerts on BBC Radio, hold recital at the Aenescu Music Festival, and the
Chopin Music Festival. He has also given concerts in the Czech Republic,
Romania, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, France and domestic regions, and
performed with national and international symphony orchestras. He published a
number of solo, ensemble and concerto records.
He also served as the judge of important piano competitions at home and abroad.
Now he is the chairman of piano department,
professor and master tutor of central conservatory of music.
