Piers lane was born in London and grew up in Brisbane. Piers lane is the most internationally influential Australian pianist living in London and one of the world’s most dynamic and engaging live performance artists. He graduated from the Queensland school of music and won the medal of excellence under Nancy Weir, the Margaret Nickson award in 1978, and the Ruby C Cool award in 1977 and 1978.He was subsequently awarded an honorary doctorate from the Queensland school of music.
He made his debut at the first Sydney international piano competition in 1977, when he was named Australia’s best pianist (he was a judge at the competition in 2004).
Lane’s career highlights include concerto performances at New York’s Fisher hall, New York’s Lincoln Center and Leon Botstein’s American symphony orchestra, as well as Beethoven’s “emperor” piano concerto with the Queensland orchestra, which won the Limelight award for orchestral concert of the year in 2007. He has played five times at the BBC proms at the Royal Albert hall in London.
Piers Lane is a patron of the Queensland companion association.
Since 2007, Ryan has been the artistic director of the annual Australian indoor music festival in Townsville.
Lane, who worked with Hyperion and recorded extensively, was a well-known speaker for BBC radio 3 and wrote more than 100 programmes, including a 54-part series called “the piano”. Invited to the royal Albert hall in London five times to the annual BBC Krishna festivals, Ryan has an amazing number of concert repertoire, which allowed him to sign with many world class orchestra, including the BBC and ABC orchestras, the American symphony orchestra, the Punemouth and Goldberg orchestras, the Australian chamber orchestra, the French national orchestra, the London Sinfonietta, the Royal family philharmonic, the Royal Liverpool philharmonic and the Warsaw philharmonic. Piers Lane also regularly performs at major international festivals such as the Aldeburgh, Bard, Burgundy, Chettenham, Huntington, ect.
Piers has published more than 50 albums. He has also performed at a number of major international events, including the Lincoln Center for the arts and the world’s top art venues, such as the Carnegie Hall. Piers lane is the president of Europe’s piano teacher association, an art director of chamber music festival in Australia, and professor of the Royal Academy of music and in 1994 he was awarded the honorary academician of the Royal Academy of music. he is famous vice chairman in putney music club, the important member of numerous music organizations and the foundation trustees. Then he was awarded the honorary doctorate in Griffith university and James cook university. Later he was appointed as the new art director for Sydney international grand prix. Besides, he won the Officer of Order awarded by the queen.
